Everything You Need To Know about OMG Fashun With Julia Fox

E!’s diving into the fashion world with their latest reality television series, OMG Fashun. Hosted by Julia Fox, three disruptive up-and-coming designers at a time will battle it out, turning all things basic into everything OMG. Setting this series totally apart from the pack, the materials that these designers will be using are not expensive. Instead, they’ll be using trash, proving that fashion doesn’t have to be expensive, and that upcycling is the new black.

Curious? You are. This series drops soon, and I’m ready, because I identify as trash, but also, I’m here for something new. If you are as well, or even if you simply love a good plot twist, then keep reading, as I’ve gathered everything that there is to know about OMG Fashun, including how and when to watch this sustainable, creative, iconic new series.

But first, the OMG Fashun trailer

Do yourself a favor and watch the superteaser for OMG Fashun. It’s all over the map, in the best way possible. After noting how out-of-the-box Julia’s fashions typically are, Julia herself appears, smiling broadly, saying “let the fashion reveal begin.” The teaser then cuts to the design room, where various contestants are seen, emptying bags and boxes of trash out onto their workspaces, noting that “one man’s trash is Julia Fox’s treasure.”

There’s a hat that’s made out of a door, and there’s also a box that’s filled with doll heads, a ring of keys, a nest, and even a pair of handcuffs, all laid out for the contestants to upcycle. Due to this, the stress amongst the contestants heightens at various points. After all, they’re competing for a $10,000 prize. Or, as Julia jokes, they’ll “go home with a quarter, and this [trash-inspired] necklace.”

Spoiler alert. Julia takes back the quarter. I died. I love LOL moments.

Quick pause here, because the artist formally known as the 22-year-old Amy (I’m now in my 40s) is happily weeping on the inside. You see, when I first started my now-defunct teaching career, I taught at a Magnet school, where the emphasis was on Environmental Science. As the Science teacher in this very low-income area, I literally hosted fashion shows with my babies, using trash and scraps as our materials, trying to show my student’s that money’s relative, the earth’s important, and that overall, creativity matters.

I clearly love this series. And I hope that my former students are watching, relearning through Julia the lessons that I once tried to instill.

How and when to watch OMG Fashun

Get those DVR’s ready, or better yet, start clearing off your schedules now, because OMG Fashun is arriving on May 6, 2024 over on E!.

Each Monday, two episodes will air, back-to-back, starting at 9 p.m. ET. In total, there are eight episodes that will be stretched out over the course of four weeks.

This series will feature several legendary names

Julia’s joined by several well-known faces in this series. Her co-host alone is Law Roach, who’s styled everyone from Celine Dion to Zendaya. In addition to these two powerhouses that’ll appear each week, every episode will also feature a special guest judge. These judges were all hand-selected for their fashionable showings around their respective towns.

Phaedra Parks, Pretty Vee, Violet Chachki, Tommy Dorfman, Wisdom Kaye, Lauren McCarthy + Jordan Roth (yes, a twofer episode), Richie Shazam, and Briana Andalore are all of the listed judges. To make it easier on all, I have written them as they’ll appear, with Phaedra leading the charge in Episode 1.

By now you all know what this series is about, and how you can watch it all go down on E!. However, there’s still a few scraps of fabric left for me to share with you all. So, let’s get into this now, shall we? We shall.

Sorry. I’m home alone all day. Talking to myself helps. That said, here’s a quick rundown of what you can expect to see each week on OMG Fashun.

In Episode 1, the three Disruptors will each have to design something befitting of a midsommer soirée, inspired by Mother Earth herself. Directly afterwards, in Episode 2, it’ll be all about the plastics baby. No, not the Mean Girls squad, just the actual plastics that are currently polluting our landforms.

The following week kicks off with Episode 3, and here, things are going to get racy. Here, the designers will have to design something that pleases a former Dominatrix. Right after, in Episode 4, the clothes are returning, as the Disruptors will be upcycling menswear into something for the ladies.

The week after, two more episodes air. Episode 5 is for the heroes, as the designers are tasked in creating something appropriate for Julia’s alter-ego, Super Fox. Coming in hot on its heels is Episode 6, where the Disruptors will be turning Julia’s junk-drawer into “Pawn Shop couture.”

This takes us to our final week of OMG Fashun. As for Episode 7, the designers now have to create an outfit that pleases Julia’s saint and sinner sides equally. Following this, this series will end with a bang and a blessing. Meaning, Episode 8 will see three Disruptors returning for a redemption round, and I’m fully eager to see how each one re-brings it.
